Boracay day 1

Like I said before we weren't able to check in to our room right away.  We arrived just a bit before 12 and instead of trying to get a room we decided to go straight to the Beach.  We had friends waiting for us and it wasn't a short time after we started to take part in the festivities!
The girls above must have taken 100 pictures of each other in different modeling poses.  It was pretty funny, 1 after another, even a jump photo or two.

San Mig Light is the drink of choice on the beach.  Its basically a Bud Light.  We hung out on the beach for a couple of hours and then checked into our rooms.  Shortly after we met back to go to lunch.  We walked the area between the Hotels and the Beach- a Boardwalk if you will.  It has people everywhere asking you to buy things.  Guys trying to stop you to take a trip/tour/snorkel/scuba/boat ride the next day.  We made it to D Mall  yes it was called D Mall and it had shops and places to eat.  We finally settled on a place and I don't remember what I got but it was pretty good.  It does not come with pictures though.
After dinner I wanted to lay down, we had a long day and I needed some sleep before hitting the town!
Let the night begin!!!!
We went to a club just next door to our hotel, and it had a DJ all night long
Look a really grainy photo of the club
That party lasted until 4 or 5 am.

The next day it was time to go to the Beach!  We decided to not go on any boat rides, scuba, or snorkel but to just enjoy the beach and the water.

A few people went back to their rooms but I decided to try and stay and watch the sunset.  It usually set around 530 and I thought it was the right thing to do.  However the sun didn't like the idea so no awesome sun set shots just a few of these
As I mentioned before there are people everywhere trying to sell you things.  These 3 kids came up the day before trying to get me to buy things.  I looked at them and said maybe tomorrow- tomorrow came and they weren't really taking no for an answer.  I finally bought a "water proof" bag that hangs from your neck and a small bracelet that says Baracay on it.  All for 100 Pesos- or 2$.  I also found 1 US Dollar in my backpack and decided to offer it to them as well.  We did the Harlem Shake to the music in the background and they were off with another Dollar!  I have video of this as well but until I can add in the music it wont be half as good.

It really was a nice beach and worth every second of time there.  Even if to get there was a bit out of the ordinary.

It was raining just on the other side of the island.  It was pretty cool getting to see the storm from far away.

After the sun went down we went to get ready for the second night in Boracay!  As an Appitizer we decided to get some Street Meat-  I didn't venture to far off the menu and stuck with a chicken and a steak.  The guy had a grill right next to the stand, you picked your meat, and a good time later after it was cooked you were able to pick it up.

While we waited we walked around a bit more and found something different.  You can get a cocktail made in these pouches and they have a string tied around the top so you don't have to carry it the whole time.

2 of your strongest drinks!
Then it was off to dinner at Port 1, just a few minutes ride to our destination- close enough to walk back after we ate!  What would we travel in?
A motor bike with a SIDE CAR!  They can usually fit up to 6 people in these things!  When you are driving around the Island as well in parts outside of Manila they use these to transport goods and you will see families riding in them together with the kids sitting on the floor boards or being held by their parents.  It was an awesome ride!  How awesome?  Well he let me drive the thing... or just take a picture like I was driving it!

I got almost a 3 minute video of our travels in these sweet rides.  I was close enough to another one at one point I could reach out and touch it.
Dinner was awesome, while there I had someone trying to persuade me to try something really different while we were walking back...

After dinner it was time to start walking back to the bars
There were fire dancers on the beach and we stopped for awhile to watch them.  Then came the craziest part of the trip.  As I mentioned before someone was trying to talk me into eating something very strange.  Below is a link from GOOGLE IMAGES-  If you are eating, or have a weak stomach do not click on this link... I repeat DO NOT click on this LINK!  You have been warned!

What I decided to eat comes from a street vendor in a Styrofoam cooler, although it was warm when I ate it.  It is called Balut!!!!!!!!!  I have a video of the first part of this- I ran out of memory space on my phone.  Lets go with a play by play because I didn't take pictures of this.  Guy gives us the Balut for 10 Pesos or 25 cents.  You have to crack the egg at the top and sip out the juice, the egg is warm and the juice doesn't taste that bad.  It kind of tasted like crab to be honest.  This must be a trick because after that you peel the egg and there are 2 parts.  There is a yolk like substance after you have hard boiled an egg.  I have blocked out most of what it tasted like.  The next part is the actual Duck Embryo...and after the first part I just put it in my mouth and started to chew. I don't remember the taste of this ethier, it was kind of feathery and I do remember a crunch to it, I am told it was most likely the beak... we will leave it at that.  I tried it, I probably wont try it again.
It was back to the bars and to help rinse whatever taste was left in my mouth as well

We returned to the same bar, at the same table, and drank the same thing- in less quantities.  It was another good night.  After the club we went to McDonalds and then it was off to bed before we had to wake up kind of early to make our trip back- bus-boat-bus to the airport

Look the airport has a TV!  Its also really small 2 rooms- 1 upstairs 1 downstairs

Our flight was delayed and I needed something to eat, airport food YUM!

We changed flights to get back and found out later that it would have been hours before we would have gotten back to our hotel in Manila.

The current week was a bit rough between recovery from the weekend, working weird hours and then the fact that 3 days into the work week I came down with something funky.  It lasted about 24 hours but it was nothing I wish on anyone.  Tomorrow I'm off to Hong Kong phone charged and ready to explore and see the sights!
